The Cherries continued their climb up the League ladder for the second year running. They finished a very respectable 6th up from 9th previously. They start the upcoming season with a new manager, Marco Rose. Andoni Iraola left at the end of the year for the top job at Liverpool. Bournemouth have completed the signing of Antonio Silva from Portuguese team Benfica. They got him at a good price, approx $ 30 mill, but he is a bit of a gamble. At only 22 years of age, he showed a lot of early promise but had a rough time of it at Benfica. The fans and the media took against him, and he had a hard time dealing with it. If he can get his head on straight, he could be a great acquisition for Bournemouth at a bargain price.
Bournemouth have rejected bids for Eli Junior Kroupi from Barcelona rumored to be in the $100 million range. A broken toe could have him sidelined for up to 4 months, so the transfer interest has all but dried up. There have been no other major moves by Bournemouth and though Rose comes with a good pedigree this year could see the Cherries drop a few places.
