Newly promoted Ipswich have done well to climb into the Premier League under the tutelage of Kiernan McKenna. They play exciting football, but I fear the team will have a hard time of it in the top tier. The simple fact is that most of their players are not ready for prime time. Arijanet Muric moving on from Burnley as their number one goalkeeper for approx. $12 million was their most notable signing.
The club doesn’t have the big bucks to obtain the needed players, and Ipswich isn’t exactly an area that most footballers want to relocate to. Not sure if it’s an upgrade from Burnley for Muric. They aren’t called the Tractor Boys for nothing and being called “carrot munching yokels” (Jim Magilton, former town manager) does not sound very appealing to prospective signings. One and done I’m afraid and a quick return to the lower level. I hope I’m wrong about this one as it’s nice to see some fresh blood in the Premier League.
