After a 25-year absence, Coventry are back in the Premier League. Back in 1992 Coventry were one of the founding members of the Premier League. They finished last year 11 points clear of the second placed team scoring 97 goals in the process. The oddsmakers are giving them around a 50/50 chance of staying up. I don’t think they will do a Sunderland, but without setting the world on fire, I think they will survive.
Managed by the great Chelsea and England midfielder, Frank Lampard, got Coventry promoted in short order after taking control in 2024. That being said, he is favored to be one of the first managers sacked this season (I have no idea why). Unfortunately for some reason, great players don’t always make great managers, I have my own ideas of why that is, but he is going to be put to the test right out of the gate as his first game is an away fixture at League Champions’ Arsenal. The Sky Blues have made some signings this summer (none of them are familiar to me) and will be looking to cement a place in the Top League of the World. I think they will survive, at the expense of some other unlucky outfit
