After a season no one wants to remember, United are looking to rebuild. There are not many players from last season that are worth keeping. Luke Shaw? Maybe. He would have to spend more time on the field than in the infirmary though. Good starts are Matheus Cunha from Wolves and Bryan Mbeumo from Brentford. They are still pursuing Benjamin Sesko from Red Bull Leipzig. Manchester don’t seem shy in spending money and that is what it will take to lift them up from the basement of the Premier League.
They need more than this though. A decent goalkeeper should be on their shopping list. Whoever is between the sticks right now, Onana, or something like that, couldn’t hold a candle to David De Gea who kept United in the frame for many years. Even spending big, I don’t expect to see a dramatic change in their fortunes. With the new talent a middle-of-the-table finish is possible, maybe lower top half but pretty soon we will see if the current manager is the problem or not.
